DM/A municipal client, East Donegal Township, Lancaster County, has received a 2006 Urban Enhancement Grant from the Lancaster County Commissioners for the completion of the first phase of development of the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail. The DM/A Planning Group assisted the Township in preliminary alignment design, cost estimating and grant preparation for the project. The estimated $1.15 million project will complete the segment of trail stretching from Marietta Borough to the Schocks Mills Bridge over the Susquehanna River in Conoy Township. Additional money for the project is being sought from the Pennsylvania Recreational Trails funding administered by the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The DM/A Planning Group will be preparing construction plans and specifications for the project. Construction of the trail is slated to start in 2007.
The DM/A Planning Group is currently providing community planning services for the update of the Huntingdon County Comprehensive Plan. The Plan is being updated to comply with amendments to the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC), and to reflect community changes that have occurred after the adoption of the current County Plan. Issues to be addressed include the development of a plan consistency policy, identification of land uses of regional significance, an expanded natural resource element, agricultural land preservation policy, identification of growth areas, preparation of a water supply plan and the development of an Infrastructure Investment Plan. The Plan Update Process includes a review and update of the County Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, an update of the County's model zoning ordinance, as well as an update to Huntingdon Borough's current zoning regulations.
